How to find my skin type?
There is an easy way to find your skin type.
1) Wash your face and pat it dry;
2) Take a few pieces of rice paper or lens-cleaning tissue paper and press on different spots on your face;
3) If your skin is oily, the paper will stick, pick up oily spots and become translucent;
4) If the paper doesn't stick or pick up any oily spots, your skin is dry;
5) If it sticks in your t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) then you have combination or normal skin.

Do I have oily skin?

- If your skin looks and feels shiny with enlarged pores, and is prone to blackheads and blemishes, then you should consider yourself having an oily skin. The great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

Causes of oily skin
Because of the hormone changes by age, oily skin is common in teenagers, but it can also occur at any age. Oily skin often clogs the pores and it causes acne. Heredity, hormone levels, pregnancy, birth control pills, diet, humidity, weather, and cosmetics you use are the most common causes of oily skin.

How to take care of oily skin?
- Choose gentle cleanser formulated for oily skin. Avoid heavy cleansing creams and harsh soaps or cleansers;
- Wash your face no more than three times a day. Too much washing will stimulate your skin to produce more oil;
- Massage your face with fingertips by an upward and outward motion when washing your face. Do not rub soap into the skin as it can clog pores;
- Avoid harsh skincare products that leave your skin feeling tight and dehydrated. It leads to blockages and breakouts;
- Starch, processed food and sugar can lead to oily skin. Fresh vegetables, fruits and grain are essential elements for a healthy skin. Drink eight or more glasses of water everyday to keep you well hydrated. Vitamins and minerals supplement is also important, especially Vitamins A, B complex and C.
